History of the Institution

History of Establishment of District Institute of Educational Training College in Ananatapuramu District

The government of our state established 12 teacher training institutes in 1975–76 to provide training for primary school teachers. With the good intention of setting up one teacher training institute in every district to conduct teacher training programs, the government started an additional 11 teacher training institutes in 1984–85. On that occasion, this teacher training institute was established in our Anantapur district.

In the district headquarters of Anantapur town, this institution was started on April 16, 1984, in the premises where the Basic Teacher Training Institute once functioned, as per G.O. Ms. No. 168(12) dated March 12, 1984.After one academic year, on July 1, 1985, the institution was shifted from Anantapur town to Bukkapatnam. When the Sri Sathya Sai District Parishad High School was moved into the new building complex constructed by the Sri Bhagavan Sathya Sai Trust, the vacant old building was allocated to house our teacher training institute

Twenty batches of students have completed their training here and achieved excellent examination results at the state level. As per G.O. Ms. No. 116 dated March 27, 1989, this teacher training institute was upgraded into a District Institute of Education and Training (DIET). In 1986, the Government of India introduced a new National Education Policy to bring revolutionary changes in the field of education.

The main objectives of this policy were to universalize primary education and to eradicate adult illiteracy. To achieve these goals, organizations such as NCERT and NIEPA at the national level, SCERT and SRC at the state level, and DIETs at the district level have been working with dedication. The District Institutes of Education and Training provide educational guidance and teaching resources to primary school teachers in the district. They strive to enhance teachers’ professional knowledge, skills, and ethical values.

Our institute has been continuously working towards achieving these goals and is steadily progressing forward.

The new building for the District Institute of Education and Training was constructed one kilometer from Buchchayyagaripalli on Mudigubba Road and has been operational since June 12, 2007. Meaningful quotations were inscribed on the compound walls to reflect moral values. Idols of Lord Vighneshwara and Goddess Saraswati were installed with the help of donors, who also contributed to the installation of cement benches. Under the guidance of Principal Sri K. Munayya, separate rooms were built for psychology, physical education, computer, and science laboratories. Murals of national leaders were artistically painted using donors’ contributions. The campus was beautified with flower plants and trees planted by the staff.A seminar hall and an additional classroom were built at a cost of about 20 lakh rupees. With the support of donors, statues of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Goddess Saraswati, Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Krishnadevaraya, Mother Teresa, and Swami Vivekananda were also installed within the campus.
